Rapids start 2010 with win over against Chivas USA
Omar Cummings strike lifts the Rapids to MLS season opening win.
Apr 2nd 2010

While the Rapids have historically not been in form when opening their MLS campaigns on the road, Omar Cummings put an end to that with a beautiful strike in the 55th minute to give Colorado their first debut win away from home in club history.

Fed by a slicing pass into the box by Colin Clark, Cummings was composed and clinical as he quickly turned and sent a one-touch shot through two defenders, burying it into the lower corner, out of the reach of Chivas keeper Dan Kennedy.

The 1-nil scoreline was indicative of the tight match, mostly restricted to the midfield. The Rapids debutantes Danny Earls, Jeff Larentowicz, Ross LaBauex, Wells Thompson, and Marvell Wynne all saw playing time, the latter of which looked comfortable despite joining the club less than two days in advance of the contest, via a trade with Toronto.

Back at The Bulldog, the members of the Bulldog Supporters Group and North Corner Council had a great time at the official watch party. Joined by members of the Rapids marketing team, the crowd was lively and supportive. Singing and chanting, the full house clearly enjoyed themselves and the Rapids start to the season.
